A group of scientists at the University of California put forward an interesting theory: women who took vitamin complexes during planning pregnancyas well as first months after its onset, are half as likely to give birth to a child suffering autistic.
Studies have shown that taking vitamin supplements is primarily able to help women with a hereditary predisposition to this kind of deviation. Scientists propose to focus on the reception folic acid, its synthetic analogues and B vitamins, namely vitamin B9. It is these additives that are vital for the normal laying and subsequent development of the child’s nervous system, including the brain at the very early stages of embryo development.
According to statistics, the intake of folic acid by the expectant mother reduces the risk of improper development neural tube child more than 70%.
The researchers analyzed data obtained in 700 families with children aged 2 to 5 years. The experts were interested in whether women took any vitamin preparations and supplements three months before and during the first month of pregnancy, and whether breastfeeding was established in the first months of their lives. Dosages of the supplements that mothers took were also analyzed. It turned out that regular intake of supplements led to a reduction in the number of anomalies in important departments brain.
